Warning: proceed with caution

Performing a hard reset involves advanced steps that may pose risks to your smartphone. Follow these instructions carefully, as incorrect actions can lead to unintended consequences for your device.

How to regain access to your phone with a hard reset

If you’ve forgotten your phone’s PIN or unlock pattern, it can be frustrating. For security reasons, you can’t reset your code without unlocking the device first. A hard reset is the only way to remove the PIN or pattern and regain access to your phone.

Note: A hard reset will erase all data on your device, including apps, photos, and files. Make sure you’re prepared for this data loss before proceeding.

Steps to reset your phone using recovery mode

  1. Turn off your phone and wait a few seconds.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously for 2–3 seconds to enter the bootloader.
  3. Use the volume buttons to navigate to Recovery mode and confirm by pressing the Power button.
  4. When the Android logo appears, press and hold the Power button, then quickly press the Volume Up button to open the recovery menu.
  5. In the recovery menu, use the volume buttons to highlight Wipe data/factory reset and confirm with the Power button.
  6. Select Userdata + Personalized content and confirm with the Power button.
  7. The reset process will begin. Once complete, your phone will reboot to factory settings.

Following these steps will remove the PIN or pattern, allowing you to access your phone. Keep in mind that all personal data will be erased.

Hard resets can be effective for regaining access to a locked device, but proceed carefully to avoid unexpected data loss or other issues.
